Breed Introduction

The Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) is a small toy dog known for its intelligence, confidence, high alertness, and friendly nature, though it can also be a bit stubborn and typically enjoys being pampered. Its long, flowing hair often covers its feet as it walks, giving it the appearance of gliding and earning it the nickname “the moving jewel.”

Named after Yorkshire in northeastern England, this breed is also called Yorkie, York Terrier, and York. With a petite size, slightly larger than a Chihuahua, its fur is smooth and silky, cascading from its head and neck down its body, creating a dazzling effect. The Yorkshire Terrier’s head is often adorned with ribbons, and it exhibits the playful personality characteristic of terriers, possessing a certain charm often associated with a “high-class lady’s boudoir.”

The Yorkshire Terrier is a very attractive toy breed, both charming and clever. Despite its small size, it is brave, loyal, and affectionate. This breed is energetic, impulsive, and courageous, but can also show evident stubbornness.
