Breed Introduction
In 1960, a curly-haired cat was discovered in Devonshire, England.
It is another curly-haired cat after the Cornish Rex, which was found in Cornwall, England, in 1950.
Initially, it was thought that these two breeds were related.
However, the offspring produced by mating them were all straight-haired, which proved that the Devon Rex and the Cornish Rex are formed from two different genetic lines.
It was first recognized to participate in cat shows in 1967.
