Breed Introduction
The Field Spaniel originated in the 19th century. After branching off from the Cocker Spaniel in 1892, it was crossed with the Sussex Spaniel, which temporarily damaged its lineage and reputation, threatening the survival of this breed.
The Field Spaniel gives the impression of being a noble breed, distinctive and elegant, with proportions that are harmonious with its overall size.
Expression: deep, gentle, and intelligent. Eyes: almond-shaped, open, of medium size; positioned slightly wide and deep; colors range from dark hazel to dark brown. Eyelids are tight, the nictitating membrane is not visible; the color of the eye rims is consistent with the color of the nose. Ears: slightly long (the tips can extend to the muzzle) and wide. Positioned slightly below the level of the eyes; drooping, hanging close to the head; rounded and adorned with a lot of feathering. Ear contours are slightly thick, soft, and the tips are slightly rounded. Head: the top (back) is slightly wider than the location of the eyebrows, with a slightly rounded appearance from the side; the sides of the head and cheeks are straight and tidy.
Although very loved, it has never performed well in dog shows.
