Breed Introduction
The Beagle, also known as the ‘MIGR’ or ‘MIGRO Rabbit Dog’, is one of the world’s famous dog breeds, classified as a hunting dog.
It often ranks within the top ten most popular dogs in the United States and Japan, and its popularity continues to rise each year.
It is said to have originated from larger-sized foxhounds, bred for hunting walks with humans and excelling in tracking hares.
They are often used in groups by institutions such as universities and high schools.
Beagles are busy, enthusiastic puppies, full of passion and energy, always willing to participate in any activity.
This breed gives the impression of being sporty; there is no better sight than a pack of Beagles engaging in a full chase, noses to the ground with their tails held high.
During the reign of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, there were rough-coated Beagles, some small enough to fit in a hunter’s pocket.
Over the years, their size has increased, but sometimes smaller versions called ‘Pocket Beagles’ appear.
Later, as hunting fell out of fashion, Beagles began to transition into family dogs.
Initially, the energetic Beagle was not very popular as a family dog due to its excessive energy making it hard to train, but with the help of professional trainers and veterinarians, it gradually adapted to human family life, ultimately becoming a part of the family.
The American Beagle Club and the American Kennel Club have made rough estimates that there are about 100,000 Beagles worldwide, actively serving as lively and adorable family pets.
