Breed Introduction
The Bombay cat, also known as the Mini Panther, Mona Lisa, or Mini Pansa, was developed in 1958 by an American breeder who crossed Burmese cats (Black Shaws) with American black short-haired cats.
The Bombay cat is completely black, with a shiny, oil-slicked coat that clings tightly to its body, resembling patent leather. In appearance, the Bombay cat resembles a small black panther, but its personality is quite the opposite.
Bombay cats are gentle, calm, and quiet, yet they are not shy and are very affectionate, enjoying cuddling with people and purring loudly when held. This beautiful black cat is beloved by many, making them excellent companions.
Bombay cats are very sociable and easily blend into their surroundings; they also get along well with children and dogs, though they may not coexist peacefully with other cats.
