Breed Introduction
A compact, closely-knit medium-sized dog that appears to be a long-legged dog, looking very agile, with a very large stride, sturdy, energetic, active, quick in movement, solid yet not clumsy, this is the Brittany Spaniel. It can be tailless or have a docked tail, retaining 4 inches long.
The breed was initially named after its place of origin in a province of France. From 1934 to 1982, the American Kennel Club (AKC) registered this long-eared long-haired dog as the Brittany Spaniel.
As a long-haired, long-eared dog, the behavior of the Brittany Spaniel is very similar to that of the Setter, but it is smaller in size than the Setter and larger than the long-haired, long-eared dog.
