Breed Introduction
The Cornish Rex is a breed of cat that originated in Cornwall, England. In 1950, on a farm in England, one of the kittens born to a cat had a wavy coat and curled whiskers. The owner was puzzled and consulted a veterinarian. The vet suggested breeding this male kitten with the mother cat, resulting in several curly-haired kittens, which initiated an experimental breeding program. The Cornish Rex was first recognized to participate in cat shows in 1967.
