Breed Introduction
The Teddy Dog is actually a grooming style of the Poodle. The Poodle is a French breed that was once used for hunting waterfowl. In the 19th and 20th centuries, this breed reached its peak development for hunting, performing, and companionship. They are divided into four categories based on size, with the most popular being the smaller breeds: Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle, with the Toy Poodle being the smallest. Poodles do not shed hair and make excellent pet dogs.
If the red Toy Poodle does not shave its beard and the hair around its mouth, it can resemble a teddy bear from an anime cartoon, which is why the red Toy Poodle is also called ‘Teddy Bear.’ The Teddy style belongs to a grooming method for Poodles. Many Poodles labeled as Teddy Poodles are actually disqualified Poodles, generally having round eyes and high ear placement.
