Breed Introduction
The Welsh Terrier may not appear to be very large in size, but they are a breed with strong explosive power. This breed first appeared in the United Kingdom around the 19th century, and has a long history. Initially, they were raised as hunting dogs, so they possess an excellent physique and strong athletic ability.
They were first recognized by dog breeders in the UK in 1886, and were later brought to the United States. To this day, their colors remain the same as they were a hundred years ago, with no significant changes. In Wales, they are still widely used for catching foxes.
The Welsh Terrier is a playful, alert, clever, and brave dog, while also displaying friendliness and self-control. They are intelligent and enjoy being pleased.
